It seems the stock PCV seems to do a decent job and I would have been better off waiting for it to go out and just paying for a 90$ replacement instead of a 300$ can and not dealing with an annoying idle. Honestly, I regretted purchasing this can. I emptied the can and was disappointed when only a very small amount of fluid came out, the can itself has a light yellow oil coat on the hoses and dipstick.

HOW TO INSTALL OIL CATCH CAN MK5 GTI UPDATE

Decided to live with the annoying sound at idle, it goes away when accelerating.ģ Month UPDATE : So after installing the Can in June, it's now September and I've decided to empty it. It's an annoying sound at idle, but the rear breather is wayy behind the engine next to the turbo inlet, so it would be a PITA to remove, (if someone made a DIY that would be awesome) also not sure if removing the check valve would have long term effects since its purpose is to relieve excess pressure. They responded very quickly and told me the sound is from the rear breather tube check valve, which makes the sound from the increased crankcase pressure. I thought I did something wrong so I emailed cts. Initial Impressions: when I started my car I immediately noticed a putter sound from my intake. I found it stuck in my front cooling fan and tightened it down with two hose clamps, no problems since The noise pipe is very easy to remove and cleans up the bay a little bit, Also, my throttle plug popped out while driving, putting my car in limp mode. Removing the noise pipe supposedly improves performance by preserving boost and also makes the interior much quieter, honestly I didn't notice any performance or sound change from removing it. This can requires a noise pipe delete while other cans route around the noise pipe, this one has short lines which won't fit with the noise pipe in the way. The mount however is very secure and bolts under the bumper cover, it shows almost no flex compared to the other cans which use the extra thread by the water pump which often feel much more wobbly. The lines were also a little hard to route properly without a little research, and also one of the screws for the mount didn't go down all the way as it wasn't properly threaded or drilled down all the way. It was fairly easy to install though the PCV breather was stuck on pretty tight for some reason.
